After the attack of the Third Reich, the Soviet Union, the German military became apparent need for armor tank fleet and power of the Wehrmacht. 20 April 1942, in Hitler's birthday were shown two prototypes of the "Tiger" - VK 4501 from the company and Henshel VK 4501 from Porsche. The results show prototypes and subsequent tests on the ground the military leadership of the Third Reich was chosen as the prototype of the firm "Henschel". Having received the designation PzKpfw VI Ausf H, "Tiger" was launched into serial production. For the first time, "Tiger I" on the personal order of Hitler was tried on the Leningrad front.
Through a narrow corridor that separated the Volkhov and Leningrad fronts, one of Soviet troops marched unusual tank. Hit him with projectiles of our anti-tank guns bounced off the armor. Tiger continued to move.
