Tartaric acid - SNO. Colorless crystals. Taste is sour, slightly astringent. Particularly large quantities in grapes. Participates in the exchange substances in the body.
In the food industry tartaric acid is used as acidity regulator in the production of canned food, jams, jellies and various confectionery products. Is added in the manufacture of beverages and table water. Finds wide application in the field of winemaking.
Other applications of tartaric acid:
