The cation exchange resin KU-2-8 is a small granules (about 1 mm in diameter) from light yellow to dark brown in color. This monofunctional strongly acidic ion-exchange resin with a gel structure, high polymer substance. Copolymer of styrene and divinylbenzene. Contains one kind of fixed ions - sulfopropyl attached to aromatic rings. The main characteristic of the cation is the presence of acidic groups, the hydrogen of which may be exchanged for metal ions present in the solution.
Different mechanical strength, osmotic stability and high chemical resistance to alkalis, acids, oxidizing agents. Insoluble in water and organic solvents. Infusible, non-flammable, non-explosive, non-toxic, and radioactive ozone-containing substances does not. Resistant to high (110-120° C) temperatures. Its exchange capacity is only slightly dependent on pH.
