Phosphoric acid — inorganic acid medium forces with the chemical formula H₃PO₄, which under standard conditions is a colorless, hygroscopic crystals. Usually orthophosphoric acid call 85 percent aqueous solution. Soluble in ethanol and other solvents.
Application:
- is used in soldering as a flux (oxide of copper, black metal, stainless steel);
for research in the field of molecular biology;
- used to purify the metal from rust surfaces. Forms on the treated surface a protective film, preventing further corrosion;
- also used in the composition of refrigerants in industrial freezer units as a binder;
- in the aviation industry phosphoric acid used in the composition of the hydraulic fluid ngj-5U and its foreign counterparts;
- phosphoric acid is registered as food additive E338. Is used as acidity regulator in carbonated drinks, such as Coca-Cola;
in farming (particularly in the farming of mink) use a feeding solution of phosphoric acid for the prevention of increased the pH of the stomach and kidney stones;
- phosphoric acid is used for etching (removing the smear layer) of enamel and dentin before filling teeth.
Phosphoric acid has a specific toxic action.
Systemic toxicity is low. Its solutions irritate eyes, respiratory system and
mucous membranes.
