Appearance
Mainly produces two kinds of copper oxide is monovalent and divalent. Monovalent copper oxide is a crystalline powder of shiny, red color. Divalent has the form of black crystals, practically not dissolved in water.
Application
Often used in electroplating industry, namely for the manufacture of electrolytes. Acts as a catalyst for some processes. Is a powerful oxidizing agent, disintegrating at a temperature of 400°C and more. Often used as a superconductor, resistant to high temperatures. In industry, the copper oxide is widely used for the manufacture of glasses, glazes and enamels, to which it attached green or blue shades and copper oxide necessary for the manufacture of copper-ruby glass. Can be used as an indicator, turning pink in the chemical recovery process. In addition, the copper oxide is not uncommon add in feed for animals. Before direct application of copper oxide should be wet to prevent dust formation and to carry out spillage at a safe distance.
