Ceresin

Ceresin is a mixture limit of hydrocarbons with the number of atoms of carbon in the molecule is 36 to 55. Has a molecular weight of 700. Consists mainly of weakly ramified isoalkanes, small the number of alkanes of normal structure, naphthenes long side chain.

Ceresin get of oil raw materials, mainly of petrolatum (a mixture of ceresin, paraffin and petroleum oils) and wax. Also produced is a synthetic microcrystalline wax.

Waxy substance without taste and smell from white to brown in water and ethanoldoes not soluble, soluble in benzene. Melting point 65 — 88 °C. depending on the temperature melting point (drop temperature) produced stamps "65", "70", "75" and "80".

Such a mixture of saturated hydrocarbons, as ceresin, finds their application in various industries. Due to the fact that the characteristic of ceresin high viscosity and great capacity for thickening oil (compared to paraffins).

Ceresin its application in the production process medical vaseline and Shoe creams, wax, and various medicinal waxes, and greases.

Not less often involved this ingredient in the candle production, manufacture printing ink, copy, waxed paper and other products.

Ceresin is in demand as an insulating material in electrical engineering and electrical engineering, it is also possible to prevent corrosion of the tanks of acids and alkalis.
Ceresin is a low-hazard substance and produced various types of oil, conventional, high-melting synthetic, alloy ceresin and paraffin. Of course, each of them has a little bit of their field use. For example, synthetic high-melting ceresin is used in the electronics industry, sensors, thermostats and a thickener different products, and alloy of paraffin and microcrystalline wax exhibits a high results in the production of candles, polishes and impregnation of paper.

In industry it is used:
- as a component of lubricants, for example, corrosion protection cars;
- as insulating material in electrical engineering;
- as a special coating radio equipment;
- impregnation for packaging materials;
- part of the Vara;
- phlegmatizer for explosives;
- candle making (in a mixture with paraffin, the so-called "arutinova composition").
