Minium lead

Minium the lead is hard and chemically resistant substance. In its the chemical composition of the red led represents orthoplumbate leadPb2PbO4, total formula Pb3O4 with a rich red-orange color and high density.

Lead minium produced in chemical plants by spraying hot metallic lead in air or oxygenand rapid cooling of the product obtained. Small in volume but very important sector of the use of lead minium is the use of it for protection from gamma radiation and for other lead compounds: dioxide, carbonate, acetate, etc. A small but important lead, the red lead is in the production of thermite explosives.
