Ammonium nitrate (nitrate)

It's good high performance mineral soluble ammonium nitrate highly concentrated fertilizer. Contains 34.4% of nitrogen. For rural agriculture ammonium nitrate is produced in the form of granules of spherical shape. Among all fertilizers it occupies the first place for use in agriculture, which is 55-60% of the fertilizer market. Has a high hygroscopicity that does not dampen added additives absorbing moisture ground limestone, chalk, phosphate fertilizer, phosphogypsum.
Applied to mineral nutrition of crops with the main, presowing making and feeding crops. The greatest efficiency is achieved by using of ammonium nitrate for early spring feeding winter wheat, winter oilseed rape and also for making a surface or locally to sowing or at sowing of spring crops, fertilizing the technical, vegetable and melon cultures. High effect obtained by co-depositing phosphorus and potassium. Forbidden ammonium nitrate to make a cucumber, zucchini, squash and pumpkin, so as contributes to the accumulation of nitrates.
This fertilizer is produced as follows: nitrogen is associated with hydrogen, in the result of that reaction produces ammonia; the ammonia subsequently oxidized to nitric acid, and when you combine ammonia with nitric acid, then will ammonium nitrate i.e. ammonium nitrate. Such agro-chemicals will be contain nitrogen in two forms, i.e. ammonium and nitrate (17% ammonium and 17% nitrate nitrogen, in the amount of 34% nitrogen).
The popularity of ammonium nitrate due to its versatility, as it fertilizer commonly used in agriculture for different crops and all types of soils.
This is an explosive, but its critical diameter (the smallest diameter the cylindrical explosive charge, which may propagation of detonation) so big (for raw unground nitrate of the order of several meters), and sensitivity to detonation of such minor, pure nitrate can be processed in the same way as inert salt.
The most widely in industry and mining used mixtures of ammonium nitrate with various types of hydrocarbon fuels other explosives, as well as a multicomponent mixture:
- compounds such as ammonium nitrate/diesel fuel (AST);
a liquid mixture of ammonium nitrate/hydrazine (astrolit);
- water-filled industrial explosives (aquanal, akvanit, etc.);
- mixtures with other explosives (Ammonite, demonic, etc.);
a mixture with aluminum powder (ammonal).

Ammonium nitrate is a strong oxidant. Explodes from the detonators in a dry form, therefore, keep it should be only in special rooms. Warehouses should be protected from falling precipitation. When storing ammonium nitrate in bulk it is not allowed to mix it with other fertilizers.

To mechanical impact not sensitive substance. When exposed to sparks or fire the ammonium nitrate is ignited. Fire decomposes to release oxygen. This promotes the combustion of inflammable objects.

Packaging ammonium nitrate is carried out in four-layer paper bags or welded plastic bags, and specialized containers. Neck bags welded or sutured.

Transporterowych fertilizer as bulk and in containers. Packaged substance is transported all modes of transport except aircraft.
