Butylcellosolve

Low volatile, high boiling, transparent liquid with a faint odor. Solvent for various natural and synthetic resins, fats and oils. The feedstock for organic synthesis.

Butyldiglycol is a transparent low-viscosity liquid with a low volatility and very low odor. Miscible with most common solvents such as aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, esters, glycols, glycol ethers and water.

Due to the low volatility of butyldiglycol widely used as supplements to improve spreadability in coating hot drying, for example in composite formulations based on urea, melamine, phenol or epoxy resin. Adding 1-3% is sufficient to significantly improve leveling, however, roller coating requires a higher concentration. Butyldiglycol can be used for the same purposes in coatings stoving based on cellulose nitrate.

Formulation of coatings hot drying water-based is easier to apply if they have butyldiglycol. It reduces bubbling and improves alignment.

Other areas the application of butyldiglycol:

- Component printing inks. In this case, note that because butyldiglycol much swell cushions of natural or synthetic rubber in a printing press.

Component cleaners of surfaces, e.g. for degreasing metal surfaces

Component of cutting fluids

Raw material for production of plasticizers, for example, by reaction with phthalic anhydride

- Component foam
