Sodium dichromate is an inorganic salt, a sodium salt of dichromic acid. Represents crystals, hygroscopic, non-caking, color — slightly orange to maroon. Water soluble, soluble in acetic acid and other polar solvents.
Substance fire and explosive, a human carcinogen, toxic by dust inhalation. In contact with skin causes chemical burns.
Dichromate sodium contaminates the environment, especially harmful to aquatic ecosystems.
Dichromate sodium is obtained by processing of chrome ores.
Dichromate sodium is used
· In the leather and fur industry for tanning leather and fur;
· In the chemical industry, in the manufacture of inorganic pigments, catalysts, and other chromium-containing compounds;
· In the textile industry in dyeing as mordants;
· In some other industries in the composition piscivorous mixtures, antifreeze for engines, acetylene, purification and chemical reagents.
