Cyclamate sodium

 

Cyclamate sodium is a sweetener, a chemical synthetic origin, used to impart a sweet taste. Sodium cyclamate 30-50 times sweeter sugar. Widely used for sweetening foods, beverages, medicines.

Not absorbed by the body and excreted in the urine. Safe daily dose of 10 mg per 1 kg of body weight.

At research cyclamate sodium increases the risk of bladder cancer in rats, however epidemiological data do not support the same risk people.

Cyclamate sodium is registered as a food additive E952, allowed more than 55 countries (including the European Union). Cyclamate sodium was banned in the USA in 1969, is currently considered the abolition of ban.

Also some people in the intestine there are bacteria that are able to process cyclamate sodium with the formation of metabolites, which are conventionally teratogenic, therefore, it is forbidden for pregnant women (especially in the first 2-3 weeks of pregnancy).

Supplement Е952, better known as sodium cyclamate, used in food industry as a sweetener. It has a chemical in dozens of times sweeter than sugar. Some people find products with cyclamate sodium unpleasant taste.

With the point of view of chemistry, additive Е952 is reklamowy acid and its sodium, potassium and calcium salts. The chemical formula of sodium cyclamate - C6H12S3NNaO.

Get Supplement Е952 by the sulfonation of cyclohexylamine. Reaction education cyclamate is accomplished by reacting cyclohexylamine with sulfamic acid or sulfur trioxide.

Most often food is used a mixture consisting of 10 parts cyclamate and 1 part of saccharin. Cyclamate is often used in low-calorie drinks diabetic foods. Sweetener Е952 stable when heated that allows you to use it in confectionery and hot soluble beverages.
