Е508 potassium chloride is a white substance with crystal structure, no characteristic odour. In nature we find in the composition of Silvinit, and the minerals carnallite and sylvite. Has pronounced salty taste. Е508 additive is highly soluble in water, but practically insoluble in alcohol. The melting temperature reaches 770С. The substance boils at a temperature 1407С.
Application
Potassium chloride for food industry use
as a stabilizer in the manufacture of condensed milk, cream, dried milk and
dry cream. Often Supplement Е508 appears as a salt substitute in
dietary nutrition. In addition, the food additive E-508 used as
nutrient medium for yeast cultures. Potassium chloride is widely used in
medical purposes in the treatment of heart rhythm disorders and for enhancing
heart, with a lack of potassium in the body, intoxication with the introduction heart
diuretics and glycosides. Also Е508 Supplement is one of the most
used popular and potassium agricultural fertilizers.
Effect on the human body
