Trichloroethylene technical
Trichloroethylene- colorless, transparent, mobile, volatile liquid with a peculiar odor, smell like chloroform, and a sweet, burning taste. The density of 1,462-1,466. Fully distils at a temperature of 86-88 °C. Practically insoluble in water, miscible with organic solvents, is not flammable, not explodes. Under the action of light and air is decomposed with the formation of phosgene halogenated acids and takes on a pink coloration. For stabilization of trichloroethyleneto add 0.01% of thymol. Maximum allowable concentration of vapours in the air of 0.05 mg/L.
Application
· in medicinein as the anaesthetic;
· trichloroethylen widely used in industry;
· in printed matteras industrial solvent;
· Thanks high dissolving ability, low boiling point, a slight toxicity and incombustibility trichloroethylene is widely used for degreasing textiles, leather, metals;
· for extraction of fats and oilsfrom natural raw materials,
· for cleaning of clothesand other purposes.
Storage
Store in a dry, cool, protected from light. Every 6 months the drug subjected to analytical scrutiny.
