Hydroxyethylenediphosphonic acid
Hydroxyethylenediphosphonic acid (HEDP, tigranova acid, 1-hydroxyethane-1,1-difosfonovoy acid) is an organic compound with the formula CH3C(OH)(H2PO3)2. Forms complexes with uranium, thorium, iron, and rare-earth elements. Is used as the complexing agent in chemistry and many branches of industry
Used in:
· oil production and heat — as a means to prevent deposits of salts in pipes;
· perfume — stabilizer;
· complexometry — the titrant;
· analytical chemistry— the masking agent;
· color photography— as inhibitorof salt formation in manifesting the solution and preservative for hydroxylamine. Is an effective substitute for Trilon Bin the processing of color papers (e.g. RA-4), as Trilon B interacts with hydroxylamine, decomposing it with the release nitrogen and ammonia, resulting in the loss of hydroxylamine-preserving properties and the rapid deterioration of the developing solution;
· agriculture— fertilizer in chelate form. Chelated nutrients are well absorbed by plants, as in root and leaf feeding.
