Larvae of this species of beetles exceed in size of larvae meal worm (length 5-6 cm, weight up to 1.5 g). Beetles and pupae are a great food for many lizards and amphibians, especially their preferred species of arid and semi-arid zones. Larvae - good food for lizards, some turtles and snakes. For amphibians, swallowing the prey whole, larvae feed, pre-crushing head, offering them with tweezers or small feeders. Thus it is possible to avoid damage of the digestive system of amphibia, since the living larvae have well-developed jaws and can cause them significant injury to the internal organs swallowing their animal.
