The ammonium dichromate is a solid crystalline substance, orange-red color, which dissolve well in water.
The ammonium dichromate are widely used in pyrotechnics, chemical, paint, metal, leather, pharmaceutical, match, ceramic industries. In addition it is used in agriculture for seed treatment and in photography. A widespread use of the substance is due to the fact that it is a very strong oxidizer and poison. It is most often used for demonstration purposes due to the fact that even with minimal heating it rapidly decomposes to release into the atmosphere of nitrogen and chromium oxide. In the chemical industry is most often used as a catalyst for the combustion of ammonium nitrate and perchlorate.
